Life would be boring without struggles…and you should be smiling.

So this isn’t really about World Music or any of our artists, but I thought I’d share.

I was having a rough morning today…had some really sad family news and I was feeling pretty sick…and during my lunch break I sulked over to Au Bon Pain, got some soup, and sat down in one of their little comfy chairs. As I sat there a kind, young worker came over to chat, noticing I wasn’t too happy. He said “Life would be boring without struggles…and you should be smiling.”

It’s so simple…but I just felt grateful for his kindness. I love interactions with strangers, especially now that I’m alone for long parts of my day commuting to work or what not. It’s so fresh and so easy. Everyone should make a point to help or converse with at least one stranger each day, it certainly changed my mood!

Facebook: The Largest World Power

First and foremost, if you haven’t gotten your FREE ICED COFFEE FROM Au Bon Pain go get it!! They are giving them out until 6!!

Secondly, here in the office today we have been talking a lot about Facebook and Facebook Apps and the possibilities of creating and App of our own! I think it is so interesting how much weight Facebook holds in the world today. I mean don’t get me wrong, I need Facebook to survive. The way I see it, Facebook lets me into my friends lives in a way that is both slightly creepy but mainly nice. I can check up on things they want the world to know and things they don’t mind if the world sees. Even though it may not be personal, it allows me to feel closer to people I can’t get close to and stay in the loop with the people I am with constantly. Its over all constant contact. Which for our business is what we ultimately really want.

It would be great to create an app that would allow people to get recommendations for shows we are presenting based on their interests. In a perfect world, the app would be able to send you some show information and maybe even a few songs from the artist to introduce people to new music. I would be excited to see a notification about something like that on my facebook! Even though I for one don’t know the first thing about creating such an application, stay tuned, maybe in the future this dream will become a reality.
